Process
Redefining the Visual Identity
As part of the redesign, I developed a new masthead and page layout, creating a modern and cohesive aesthetic that aligns with the journal’s academic credibility, while improving readability. This rebrand was not just about visuals – it was a strategic shift to position Teaching Science for long-term success in an evolving publishing landscape.
Strengthening Accessibility and Sustainability
A key component of the project was transitioning the journal’s business model to a Bronze Open Access model. This approach allows the latest issue to be shared freely while ensuring all past editions remain accessible through royalty-paying databases. This change provided a balance between accessibility and financial sustainability, allowing Teaching Science to maintain its academic reach while securing revenue from institutional subscriptions.
